Wieslaw Popik

Hello Academy Parents and Players,

My name is Wiesław Popik, and I am a professional volleyball coach from Poland with more than 30 years of experience coaching at the youth, professional, and international levels.

Throughout my career, I have worked in some of Poland’s top volleyball organizations and have had the opportunity to coach athletes from their first years in the sport all the way to professional and national team careers. My passion has always been player development, helping young athletes build strong technical foundations, confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for volleyball.

At the international level, my journey began with the Polish Women’s National Team, where I served as both Head Coach and Assistant Coach. Working with the senior national team gave me invaluable experience at the highest level of international volleyball and helped shape my coaching philosophy and approach to athlete development.

Following my work with the senior national team, I spent several years coaching within Poland’s youth national team program and at the Polish Sports Championship School (SMS), one of the country’s premier athlete development systems. My focus was on identifying, developing, and preparing young athletes for future success at the professional and international levels. Today, many players competing for the Polish Women’s National Team began their development during their years in the SMS and youth national team programs where I had the privilege of coaching them.

One of the highlights of my coaching career was helping lead Poland’s youth national teams to international success, including a Bronze Medal at the European Championships and a Bronze Medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). These achievements were especially meaningful because they reflected years of work developing young athletes and preparing them to compete against the best players in the world.

My coaching philosophy is built on hard work, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. I believe that great athletes are developed through a combination of strong fundamentals, a positive mindset, and a commitment to learning every day. My goal is not only to help players become better volleyball athletes but also to help them develop the confidence, discipline, and character that will serve them throughout their lives.

I am excited to be part of the Academy Volleyball family and look forward to sharing my experience, passion, and knowledge with the next generation of athletes.
