Hello everyone!
I am Coach Ed. I am a dedicated volleyball coach with 14 years of experience, shaping players from the 4th grade level to Division 1 high school volleyball. For the past five years, I’ve been coaching at the Academy Volleyball Club in Redwood City, focusing on age groups ranging from 13 to 17 years old. In addition to indoor coaching, I am passionate about beach volleyball. I coach club beach volleyball both through The Academy Volleyball Club and independently. I’ve coached Academy teams in P1440 tournaments and guided independent beach teams in CBVA (California Beach Volleyball Association) tournaments in Santa Cruz and Manhattan Beach. Currently, I am the Head Coach of the Design Tech Girls Varsity Indoor Volleyball Team and the Academy 15 High Performance team. Last year, I led the 17 High Performance team and served as the Assistant Coach for the Palo Alto High School Girls Varsity team.
My educational background includes studying Exercise Physiology and Athletic Training at UMass/Boston. Later, I earned a Master’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Science from San Francisco State University. During my time at SFSU, I worked as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for five years, preparing D2 varsity teams for competitions.
As a player, I’ve enjoyed volleyball for over 20 years, competing in indoor, grass, and beach formats. I’ve even clinched tournament victories at Stanford intramurals in both beach and indoor volleyball. My coaching philosophy centers around playing the game correctly, drawing from my passion for the sport and my educational foundation. I emphasize respect for teammates, competitors, and officials while developing players to succeed at a high level.
